Was puttering around out in the shed yesterday and on my way back in the house I saw this beauty sitting on top of a bird box staking out the backyard. I know these guys are around but it’s not often that I get to see them this close. Was happy he didn’t fly off while running to get my camera. He allowed me about a dozen shots before he said enough of that. I believe he’s a young Cooper’s Hawk. Click on pictures to enlarge the photos.
What a Beautiful bird. I am glad you had a chance to photograph it. You got some really great shots Jody. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are great pictures. Can't believe it stayed there and let you take it's pictures. Kind of disturbing though, seeing it sitting on the bird house.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures, Jodi. What a beautifull Hawk.
ReplyDeleteOh wow he is a beauty Jo! I can never get close enough without spooking them away either. I'm glad he stuck around so you could snap him!
ReplyDeleteJodi, all this time I've been following your OTHER site and kept wondering why it hadn't been updated in a while. I just left there from leaving you a "Merry Christmas" note, lol. Now I finally find this page, tg. Oh boy, lots to catch up on now and lots to see. I particularly want to thank you for this hawk photo. Kimmy knows I have one that uses the top of my car to survey my back yard for his all-you-can-eat buffet, ugh. Beautiful bird, though, I have to admit. But it won't stop me from running out the door, flailing my arms to save all the rest of the wildlife out there.
ReplyDeleteGLAD to find you here :D .....and MERRY CHRISTMAS, Jodi!
wow he is beautiful. What a sight that was.. and gr8 u had ur camera handy. Hopefully you never had to witness him kill other birds though.. such is life eh? :-)
